Oil Portraiture Painting Class by Instructor Marlies Ihmels

This course will offer the intermediate or advanced artist a practical approach to portraiture. Students will learn about the anatomy of the head, direct and indirect portrait painting from a life model. The representation of different skin tones will be discussed and explored. The ability to communicate character and expression will be studied in terms of seeing the totality of the sitter rather than individual feautures. The goal will be to create the illusion of reality and the feeling of life.
Individual instructions will be emphasized.
